Photo Club Information - Paper Prayers Project

The Photo Club needs your help! This year the club will be organizing the Paper Prayers Exhibition in the library gallery.
About the project:
The Paper Prayers Project is an AIDS awareness project and exhibition that links the visual arts with real lives. Held annually in different parts of the world, this project commemorates World AIDS Day on December 1. The tradition of Paper Prayers is derived from the Japanese practice of offering colorfully decorated strips of paper as a prayer for good health and well-being. They are a compassionate gesture, given anonymously to those who are less fortunate. The Bucks Paper Prayers project benefits Family Services Association of Bucks County.

How you can help:
Make a paper prayer and donate it to the project. Anything goes: color photos, b&w photos, collage, prints, ceramics, drawings, paintings, metal, wood, etc, etc. The exhibition will hang in the library from November 15-December 1, 2010. During this time, the paper prayers will be sold for $7 each. Proceeds from the sale of the paper prayers will be donated to Family Services of Bucks County.

Important info:
• Please be sure that your paper prayer is approximately 12 inches tall by 4 inches wide.
• Do not sign the piece - this is an anonymous exhibition
• Drop your finished piece into the box in the art office in Hicks.
•We would like to have the pieces by November 8, but we will accept pieces as long as the exhibition is open.
If you have a photograph and would like to have it printed for paper prayers, you can crop the photo to 12 x 4 inches and save it as a jpeg (preferably 150-240 resolution). Email your submission to bcccphoto@gmail.com. We will print it and hang it for you.
Thanks in advance for your participation.
